About

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office — the second largest jurisdiction in the State of Texas — is housed in the Frank Crowley Courts Building on the edge of downtown Dallas and provides legal representation on behalf of the State in both criminal misdemeanor and felony cases filed in the County. Led by Criminal District Attorney Craig Watkins who is in his first term in office, the Dallas County DA’s Office is comprised of 242 prosecutors, 72 investigators and 128 support staff.

The top priority at the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office is protecting the citizens of Dallas County. To this end, we strive to seek justice by maintaining the utmost integrity while prosecuting individuals who commit crimes within the County regardless of the defendant’s or victim’s race, gender, age, socio-economic status, religion or national origin.

The DA’s Office has several divisions including Misdemeanor, Specialized Crime, Organized Crime, Gang Unit, Family Violence, Child Abuse, Grand Jury/Intake, Administration, Checks, Civil, Juvenile, Federal, Public Integrity, Conviction Integrity and Appellate. Each of these divisions has a specific focus and expertise on the types of cases it investigates and prosecutes.
